Sazerac House Will Reopen to the Public On July 1

Guests will be welcomed back with new sanitation protocols, safer interactive experiences and delicious samples

NEW ORLEANS, LA (June 18, 2020)

The Sazerac House, an immersive, spirited experience exploring the history of New Orleans through the stories of its cocktails, will reopen to the public on July 1, 2020, with its signature tours, tastings and traditions, with some small twists! To open safely while limiting the spread of COVID-19, the Sazerac House will be following guidelines that allow for social distancing, frequent sanitation, regular guest and employee wellness checks and keeping some gatherings virtual as part of its reopening strategy. Admission to the Sazerac House will continue to be complimentary but will be limited in capacity, and timed tickets, available at www.sazerachouse.com will be required.

“We have been able to share cocktails with our guests virtually in the evenings as part of our virtual tasting series, but nothing replaces our joy of welcoming guests back into our building,” said Miguel Solorzano, Sazerac House general manager. “From the moment we closed our doors in March, we have been reviewing our protocols alongside the recommendations of public health experts to help us chart a path forward, and now that those new measures are in place, we are we are eagerly anticipating welcoming our guests back to the Sazerac House in the heart of downtown New Orleans.”

In the initial phase of reopening, the Sazerac House will be open Tuesday through Saturday from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., with the last tour occurring at 4:20 pm. Every team member and guest will be temperature screened upon arrival. Staff will be required to wear face coverings and gloves at all times. Visitors are asked to wear face coverings, which will be made available for those who do not bring their own.

Timed ticketing will allow for 8 guests every 20 minutes, with a total of 112 guests each day. All tours will be guided with a Sazerac House staff member, and sanitation of each space will take place between each group.

Many of the Sazerac House exhibits feature interactive touch screens, and gloves and a disposable stylus, provided by the Sazerac House, will be required for interaction with these touch screens. Sampling stations will be in full operation, and samples of Sazerac House products in disposable cups will be available. The Distillery Exhibit will be fully functional, and guests will be able to see the process of making Sazerac Rye first-hand.

Sazerac House is known for a robust series of signature events, and during the initial reopening phase, those events will be available virtually, with reservations and a full calendar available at www.sazerachouse.com. There will be no event rentals or in-house signature events during the initial reopening phase.

The Sazerac House will continuously monitor guidance from local, state and federal resources to determine the next phases of reopening, potentially allowing for larger groups of tours and for in-person events. Additionally, should conditions decline, the Sazerac House will revisit guidelines and make appropriate changes.
