A classic cocktail on the rocks is good for any occasion. But when the temperatures drop and the fireplace is crackling, sometimes you want a taste of something a little warmer. That’s why we put together a list of some of our favorite hot cocktails for those cool, winter nights. Put on some mittens, mix up some hot cocktails and enjoy.

Louisiana Coffee


Best paired with either a warm brunch or an evening fire, a Louisiana Coffee is the perfect combo of coffee and cocktails.

1/2 oz Mr. Boston Creme de Cacao
1/2 oz Myers’s Original Dark Rum
1/2 oz Southern Comfort
Hot Coffee

Dip rim of Irish coffee glass in lime juice, then in sugar. Pour liqueur and rum into the glass. Fill with freshly brewed coffee. Top with whipped cream and sprinkle with cinnamon. Garnish with a cinnamon stick as a stirrer. Serve in an Irish Coffee Glass.

Hot Buttered Rum


Butter yourself up with a hot cocktail that’s as decadent as it is delicious. A Hot Buttered Rum is the perfect way to enjoy rum when it starts getting cold.

.5 oz simple syrup
4 oz boiling water
2 oz Myers’s Original Dark Rum
1 tsp unsalted butter
Freshly ground nutmeg

Put syrup into preheated Irish coffee glass or mug. Fill with boiling water. Add rum and butter and stir. Top with nutmeg.

Mulled Wine


Wine, rum, honey — just add some mulling spices and you’ve got one of our favorite cold weather cocktails: Mulled Wine.

1.5 oz red wine
1 tsp mulling spices
1.5 oz Myers’s Original Dark Rum
1 tsp honey
Lemon wheel

Heat wine and spices in a small saucepan over very low heat just until steaming. Pour into preheated Irish coffee glass or mug. Add rum and honey and stir. Garnish with lemon.

Hot Toddy


Arguably the most popular hot cocktail around, the Hot Toddy can be enjoyed with whiskey or rum. But we’re partial to our very own Sazerac Rye for our recipe.

1 sugar cube
4 oz boiling water
2 oz Sazerac Rye
Lemon wheel
Freshly grated nutmeg

Stir sugar and water in preheated Irish coffee glass or mug to dissolve sugar. Add whiskey and stir. Add lemon and sprinkle with nutmeg. Serve in an Irish Coffee Glass.

Southern Hot Chocolate


Just like any hot chocolate, the marshmallow toppings are optional. But for the Southern Hot Chocolate, Southern Comfort is mandatory. Cozy up at a football game with this special concoction.

1 oz Southern Comfort
.75 oz Jung & Wulff Barbados Rum
4 oz hot chocolate
Marshmallows

Stir in preheated Irish coffee glass or mug. Top with marshmallows and cocoa. Serve in an Irish Coffee Glass.

Tom and Jerry


When it comes to holiday cocktails, nothing beats a classic egg nog. But on an especially cold winter’s night, the Tom and Jerry reigns supreme. The only real difference is how it’s served—warm, and ideally, in front of a fire.

3 Eggs, separated
1/4 tsp Cream of tartar
2 1/4 cup Superfine sugar
2 oz Jung & Wulff Barbados Rum
1 tsp Ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp Ground cloves
1/2 tsp Ground allspice

To make batter, beat egg whites and cream of tartar in medium bowl to stiff peaks. Beat yolks in another medium bowl until slightly thickened. Gradually beat in 1 cup of the sugar. Mix in rum, cinnamon, cloves, and allspice. Mix in remaining 1 cup sugar. Fold in whites. Cover and refrigerate until ready to serve, up to 2 days. Makes 3½ c. batter, enough for about 28 drinks. For 1 serving, combine brandy and batter in preheated punch cup or coffee mug. Fill with boiling water and stir well. Top with nutmeg. Serve in a Punch Cup.
